Check out some amazing Spark the Wave Service Projects!
Allegra, Ruth, and Casey (Wave Week ’09) collected over 10,000 books to start a library in Ethiopia! Allegra and Ruth traveled to Addis Ababa to remodel the location and stock the library. In response to the outpouring of support, the city government is planning to open several more libraries with the book donations!
Aja, Heidi, Louise, and Lauren (Wave Week ’10) joined together to create “Four for Darfur.” Together with an existing effort, “Hate is Out of Style,” they are combining their love of fashion with a desire to promote genocide awareness and selling amazing t-shirts with an original design. All proceeds are donated to the Save Darfur Coalition. Help them reach their $10,000 and contact them at hateisoutofstyle@yahoo.com.
Kelsey (Wave Week ’09, Staff-in-Training ’10) and her group have created a project called “Dollars for Disabilities.” They are collecting games, toys, art supplies, and other items and donations for The Variety Club - a camp for children with disabilities in Worcester, PA. Have something to donate or want to help out? Kelsey can be contacted at mangano2297@verizon.net.
Bobby and Mike (Wave Week ’10) are working on “Dodging for Clothes,” and just received approval from their school principal to hold a dodgeball tournament at which the entry fee will be clothing donations for area homeless shelters. We are excited to hear about their progress!
Ian (Wave Week ’10) is working to collect canned goods for The Pottstown Cluster Outreach Center. He has a goal of 500 cans and has received donations from local stores and is planning on participating in a neighborhood garage sale to raise funds as well as setting up a table outside a local grocery store. Want to help Ian? Contact him at ibrennan208@gmail.com.
Lacey, Alex, Mary, Michaela, and Brianne (Wave Week ’10) created the L.A.M.M.B. Project to support the children and families of Uganda.
