Helping With Your Next Volunteering & Community Service Steps

Welcome to STW’s new “Service Steps” page! Are you ready to take the next steps on your community service path and ignite a wave to fix a problem you see, but don’t know which way to go? FIRED up but still need a little guidance? Well this page is here to help! We are starting off by offering message boards to help talk out some of the issues you may be having and help you over come some of the hurdles you may face on the road to service success!

In addition to our message boards this page will soon include features such as:

• “Ask the Expert”: your questions will be answered by those who know volunteering best. We will tap seasoned veterans (both youth and adults) to answer your questions.
• “Building a Great Team”: we will address questions about teambuilding and motivating your team to reach its full potential.
  
• “Learning to Lead,” where you can discuss leadership questions and reflect on yourself as a leader.
  

We hope that the interactive message boards will enhance your future volunteering and service experience by enabling you to ask questions, share advice with fellow volunteers, and post your success stories! The rest of this page will be completed by September (so check back after school starts).

Until then – we need YOUR help!

What do YOU want to see on the “Service Steps” page? Are there additional things we could add to this page that could make your service experiences better? (I.e. If you have a hot idea, share it with us, so we can share it with everyone.) What topics would YOU like to discuss? What info might you need to succeed? What connections should we help you make?

We hope to see you all at our Annual Meeting in December, but until then -- write to us with questions, give us suggestions on how to make this page better, post on the message boards, and keep us updated on your volunteering success by contacting Laura Payne, our Service-Mentoring Manager, at laura@sparkthewave.org! Don’t forget to check out our Resources page for a list of our partners that can help you get started; ideas on where to volunteer and other great info. Also, remember we have tons of Service-Mentoring ready to help you out.
